i have searched everywhere and can't find out any info about his problem. i am running xbmc release 09-03-2004 and using smb shares to access my music from my computer. whenever i attempt to scan my folders it locks up and from what i can tell it is not on the same file but after roughly the same number of files. it seems to make it through the first couple hundred songs fine, then just locks. any help is much appreciated.i have the latest build 28-04 and it's still hanging on music scans. when the .tmp-journal becomes around 23kb it hangs. i can scan directories with 200 music files but during the 3rd directory scan (in a row)i have to reboot. xbmc seems to have a problem handling large archive folder scans. a recursive whole library scan is for me not possible….what file type do you use? (mp3, wma, ogg...)
if you have mostly wma, there was a bug in 09-03-2004 cvs
which causes xbmc not to free up the memory when reading the tags and that causes a lockup.

bobbin007most of my music files are wma so that would explain it is there any work around for this.what does the xbmc.log file say after scanning hangs?
